Profile

My name is Myles Wayne Bagnall MBE MSc CMIOSH Hon-FIDE MCMI. In the 1970's I studied Chemistry & Biochemistry for five years attaining a City & Guilds Full Technological Certificate (Part 111) equivalent to degree level.

I continued with my education in management and safety gaining Membership with the Chartered Institute of Management (MCMI), a Certificate of Professional Competence in transport safety with the RSA, a qualified Demolition Engineer with the Institute of Demolition Engineers (Hon-FIDE), corporate membership with the Chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH).

In 1997 I was awarded an MBE in the Queens Birthday Honours list for 'Services to the Building Industry'.  In 2000 I was one of the first four people to be awarded a Masters Degree in Construction (Health & Safety) Management at John Moores University Liverpool.

I worked in the family business in Asbestos Removal and Demolition as a Director of the Bagnall Group Ltd. During my time with the company I continued to develop my personal expertise by various training, writing papers on asbestos and demolition safety issues and delivering presentations around the country at national conferences (IOSH, NFDC, ICE) etc.

In 1999 I set up an independent consultancy, Wayne Bagnall Ltd t/a Wayne Bagnall Consulting, providing specialist safety advice and training in asbestos (UKATA) and demolition safety to private industry and government. I am listed on the HSE "OSHCR" as a registered consultant and considered by my peers to be a leading authority in this field applying practical experience underpinned with a Masters Degree in Construction Health & Safety Management.

2021 - Speaker on the 'Health effects of Asbestos' at the NEC Birmingham international H&S event 2021 representing UKATA
2020 - Recognised and rewarded with an Honorary Fellowship of the Institute of Demolition Engineers (Hon-FIDE) 
2019 - Recommended by HSE to assist the client following a major demolition incident involving multiple fatalities
2015 - WayneBagnall is a regular guest speaker at HSE Inspectors "Demolition and Refurbishment" training course. Gave papers to the Institute of Demolition Engineers in Leeds and London, due to deliver a paper on Asbestos at the IDE 23/2/18 in Leeds.
2014 - WayneBagnall is made Honorary Member of the North West Construction Safety Group
2011 - WayneBagnall Ltd was awarded the contract to update GE700 Construction Site Safety & Environ E8 Demolition & B7 Asbestos modules
2010 - Wayne Bagnall Ltd is now an approved training provider for the National Demolition Training Group (NDTG)
2010 - BS6187: 2011 Wayne contributed to update the Demolition & Refurbishment British Standard, published 31.12.11
2009 - Appointed to the IDE (institute of Demolition Engineers) "Council Of Management"; special responsibility for the North West Region
2008 - Supervised a successful rail/road bridge demolition for Story Rail & Network Rail in Morecombe; PTS safety trained
2007 - Launched the new CDM 2007 Regulations with the HSE Chief Inspector at a national conference in Runcorn.
2006 - Developed & implemented an asbestos management system for Vauxhall Motor Ltd, Ellesmere Port
2005 - Appointed by British Nuclear Group for the demolition planning & enabling works of the Calder Cooling Towers
2004 - Appointed as Asbestos Consultant for the BNFL WAGR (Golf Ball at Sellafield) & B207 steel framed building
2003 - Appointed as the demolition expert for a high profile planning appeal (former 138m Express Lift Tower Northampton)
2003 - Appointed by the courts as a demolition expert
2001 - Awarded a contract by the HSE to write new national guidance for the demolition industry.
2000 - Launched the new Demolition Code of Practice BS 6187: 2000 at the Institution of Civil Engineers.
2000 - Approved lecturer for the BIOH, P402 & P405 etc for the Management of Asbestos in Buildings
2000 - Awarded a Masters Degree in Construction (Health & Safety) Management at Liverpool John Moores University being 1 of the first 4 people
2000 - Passed the Institute of Demolition Engineers (IDE) exams (2 papers) in London enabling full membership status
2000 - Passed the British Institute of Occupational Hygiene (BIOH) Proficiency Cert in Buildings Surveys & Bulk Sampling for Asbestos
1999 - Appointed Deputy Chairman of the Construction (Design & Mgnt) Regs (CDM) Duty Holders Group
1999 - Appointed Chairman of the Warrington Local Business Partnership (WBP)
1998 - Delivered papers to the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) previewing new BS 6187: 2000 Demolition code of practice
1997 - Honorary member of the Merseyside & Cheshire Construction Safety Group (MCCSG).
1997 - Awarded the MBE for services to the Building Industry
1996 - Co-authored the new demolition code of practice BS 6187 with a special responsibility for "materials, handling and processing".
1996 - to date: Regularly provide training for HSE Inspectorate
1996 - Appointed a member of the British Standards Institution drafting committee for the new BS6187 demolition code of practice
1996 - to date: Regularly provide training for HSE Inspectorate
1995 - to date: Revised the Asbestos & Demolition modules for the CITB
1994 - 1987/8 Chairman of the North West Construction Safety Group (NWCSG) Wrote a new "Demolition Guidance" for the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB)
