Low Pressure Gas Holder Demolitions

The Challenge

To assist the client team with the demolition of redundant low pressure gas holders (water sealed) by raising the client project managers knowledge of demolition.

My Solution

Having initially discussed the issues with Mr Mark Benton H,S&E Manager ameeting was held on a site in Newport South Wales to develop a case study for the training courses as part of the bespoke 2 day Demolition Safety Management course.

The Result

The 1st course was held in Gloucester on 28 & 29 June 2010 and was a complete success, not only raising demolition awareness to engineers that have previously been managing the transportation of gas and now being expected to be part of the demolition procurement & management team but crucially capturing useful information.

My/Our Comments

Following the success of the 1st course a 2nd course was arranged in August 2010 to repeat the exercise; Wales & West Utilities have at least 12 gas holders for demolition in the next 12 months and hopefully the bespoke training will help to make this process a little easier for all concerned.
