The Challenge

To ensure Berkeley Group selected a competant and capable demolition contractor to undertake the safe demolition of thes 9 and 10 strorey former government RC

framed buildings in the heart of London.  The sensitivity of the site cannot be exagerated being opposite the security headquarters of "MI-5" close to the river Thames and high profile residents on the opposite side.

My Solution

I assisted Berkeley Group by initially providing pre-qualification advice and then assessed the tendering contractors submissions for technical ability providing a report that scored each contractor from poor to good.  Having narrowed the list further enquiries and submission were made until we were satisfied that the best contractor was appointed.

The Result

In November 2012Lee Demolition Ltd a newly federated (NFDC) member was awarded the contract and work commenced on Abell House to be run in conjunction with Cleland House.

My/Our Comments

I visited site at the beginning of the contract and was satisfied with the arrangements observed, Berkeley Group are relaxed in the knowledge that they can call on me for independent unannounced demolition safety audits.
